Dance Arts

Hello! Please allow me to welcome you into my artistic world!

My name is Jack and I am a dancer, choreographer, and educator. I have been working as a 6-12 dance educator for 10 years in both public and private studio settings. I am in my third year of performance with Columbia Repertory Dance Company, or Cola Rep, under artistic director Stephanie Wilkins, in which we learn repertory dances from a variety of choreographers. As a member of Cola Rep, I have performed works in jazz, hip hop, contemporary, modern, and ballet from choreographers such as Terrance Henderson, Jen Deckert, Olivia Waldrop, and Angela Gallo.

I began my dance journey at 16 as a junior in high school under the tutelage of Rachel Solomon. Originally just intended to serve as an additional “something fun to do,” dance quickly became a passion that overtook even my love for music and band, which I had seen as my career path. After making the choice in my senior year to pursue dance as a career, I attended Winthrop University from 2013 to 2017 to receive my BA Dance with a minor in Anthropology. After teaching for four years, I decided to pursue my Masters of Science in Education with a concentration in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment with Walden University. While attending Walden, my research focused on the periodization of dance education for K-12 students.

I am currently in my 2nd year of the Masters of Fine Arts program as part of Jacksonville University’s low-residency MFA Choreography program with hopes to enter the collegiate dance education setting. As a collegiate dance educator, I hope to have an influence on the ever-changing landscape of dance education and bring more accessibility to dance for K-12 students and disadvantaged communities, giving wider audiences the access to dance that they may be missing due to limiting means.

My current area of interest is the exploration, embodiment, and contemporanization of ancient mythology.
